Arklow Cancer Support - Volunteer To Driver

Travel can be a massive burden on those who are already dealing with significant emotional and physical strain, which is why we provide free transport for patients to and from hospital appointments in Dublin.

Our 25 volunteer drivers take clients to appointments on a daily basis and are dedicated to providing a relaxed atmosphere on their journey to treatment.

Should you wish to avail of this service please contact our office to register as a client and a member of our team will arrange your transport.

Sometimes talking is the most effective way of coping with the challenges posed by cancer, which is why our counselling service is one of the most important that we offer. Our dedicated counsellors are at the ready to meet with patients, their family members, bereaved members and also children affected by cancer.

If you are dealing with stress, anxiety, anger, or the fear associated with a cancer diagnosis, please don’t hesitate to contact us – our counsellors are here to talk.

Play Therapy

Play Therapy is to children what talk therapy is to adults. Play therapy is a safe means for children to play out their thoughts and overcome some of the difficulties posed by cancer or loss.

Our specialised play therapy counsellors ensure safety and strict confidentiality in a relaxed and productive atmosphere.

Lymphoedema Services

Our registered clients are given access to a lymphoedema specialist. We are very fortunate to be able to provide this service as there are very few qualified lymphoedema specialists in Ireland at present.

Prosthesis & Bra Fitting / Wig Fitting

Arklow Cancer Support have teamed up with Roches Positive Appearance & Wellbeing in order to provide a prosthesis and bra fitting service as well as a wig fitting service for our clients.

A clinic takes place on the last Wednesday of every month where clients can meet with a member of the Roches team for professional advice on prosthesis and bra fitting. This is an invaluable service as our clients no longer need to travel to Dublin to avail of such a service.

Mairead Garvey at “Salon M” a local hairdresser also provides wig fitting services on our behalf.

Appointments can be arranged through our office. Talk to one of our team to make an appointment for a specialised treatment.
